Praising God For Strength

Let them all praise the name of the LORD.

For his name is very great;

his glory towers over the earth and heaven!

He has made his people strong,

honoring his faithful ones—

the people of Israel who are close to him.

Praise the Lord!

Psalm 148:13-14

This prayer summons all creation to praise God for his power and glory. Although we as mere human beings live with our weaknesses and limitations, this prayer reminds us of God’s supernatural strength. All creation praises God, for his name alone is “great.” Our wealth, our possessions, even our friends and family, can’t save us from our troubles. God alone “towers” over our earthly problems and provides strength to endure hardships and overcome temptations. No prayer is powerless, for prayer connects us with the ultimate power of the universe.

So as you approach God in prayer today, repeat the words of this psalm as a testament to his strength.
