Streaks On The Windows
STREAKS ON THE WINDOWS
Read John 3:19-21.
Kent worked hard all morning. First he had to climb up a ladder to wash a window. Then he had to rinse it and dry it with a clean, soft rag. Next he had to climb down the ladder and move it to the next window.
When Kent came in to tell his mother he was done, she gave him four oatmeal cookies and a glass of milk. He was feeling good!
In the afternoon the sun came out. Kent was jumping on his bike to go visit a friend when Mom called. “Kent Anthony Simmons, come here!” Kent knew that when Mom used his full name, he was in trouble! “Kent, you have to wash the windows again.”
As Kent looked at the windows, he couldn’t believe his eyes! With the sun shining on the glass, he could see big streaks all over. “But, Mom, I couldn’t see the streaks before!”
“I warned you about that,” said Mom. “I said that you wouldn’t see streaks until the sun came out.”
As Kent got the ladder out of the garage again, he thought about how his heart used to be dirty with sin. Until he learned about Jesus, he had not even known that he was a sinner.
It’s just like the windows, Kent thought. I didn’t see the streaks until the sunshine was on them. And I didn’t see the dirt of sin in my heart until God’s Son shined His light on it.
As Kent carefully washed the streaks away, he thanked God for His Son, Jesus, who had washed away the sin from his heart.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Has the light of Christ shined into your heart? Have you seen the sin that is there? If so, confess your sin. Ask God to forgive you, and receive the light from heaven.
TO MEMORIZE:
Those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.
John 3:21
JESUS IS THE LIGHT.
