Just Like Us
JUST LIKE US
Read Ephesians 2:19-22.
Amanda and Joelle were on their way to their new home. There were different things to see every day. “What will we see tomorrow?” asked Amanda when they stopped at a motel on Saturday night.
“Tomorrow we’re going to church,” said Mom, “just like we do when we’re home.”
“Oh, Mom, do we have to? I’ll feel so out of place in a strange church,” said Amanda.
Dad smiled. “I think we can find one where we’ll feel at home,” he assured her.
Early Sunday morning Mom woke Amanda and Joelle and told them to get ready for church. After breakfast they headed for the church they had chosen. When they arrived, a friendly couple met them at the door and took them to their Sunday school class. The pianist was playing a song that Amanda and Joelle knew.
As the morning passed, the girls were surprised to find many things similar to their own church. The kids were friendly, and the teacher told a familiar Bible story.
“Sometimes,” said Dad as they got back into their car, “we think we’re the only Christians in the world—but that’s not true. There are people everywhere who love the Lord.”
“And it’s fun to meet other Christians,” Joelle decided.
“I think so too,” agreed Amanda. “After all, we all belong to God’s family!”
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Have you ever visited a church in another town? Was it a lot like the one you regularly attend? Christians have much in common—especially their love for the Lord. When you’re on vacation or on your way to a new home, you’ll find that it’s a good time to meet other Christians and fellowship with them.
