A WITNESS (PART 2)
Read 1 John 1:1-5.
Some time after Krystal went to the police station with her father, she had to appear in court. “The truck driver could be convicted—and sued—for hitting the man unless he has a witness to testify that he was driving in a proper manner,” the police chief had explained. “Your job, Krystal, is just to tell what happened.”
Krystal was nervous. She had never been inside a courtroom. But the words came easily once she started giving her testimony. After the case was presented, the truck driver was cleared of any wrongdoing. He came over to shake hands with Krystal. “I’m really sorry that man got hurt,” the driver said, “but I’m thankful that you told the truth, Krystal. It takes away the guilt—and the punishment. I could have been sent to jail if I had been convicted.”
On the way home Krystal and her dad stopped for hot fudge sundaes. “You’re quiet, Krystal. What are you thinking about?”
“I was thinking about my friend Maribeth,” Krystal explained. “I’ve wanted to talk to her about Jesus, but I didn’t know what to say. Now I do. When I gave my testimony about the accident, I just told what happened. I’ll just tell Maribeth what happened too. I’ll tell her what Jesus has done for me.”
Dad gave her a hug. “Remember how grateful the truck driver was for your testimony because it helped save him from punishment? Perhaps someday Maribeth will be grateful for your testimony too.”
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Do you want to witness but you just don’t know what to say? A witness simply gives his or her testimony and tells the truth about what happened. You can do that. Remember, Jesus has saved you! Tell somebody.
TO MEMORIZE:
You are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard.
