Good News!
GOOD NEWS!
Read Matthew 28:18-20.
“If I watched anything as violent as that, you’d make me turn the TV off,” observed Jessica as her father watched the evening news.
“You’re right,” he agreed, turning it off. “I like to keep up on what’s happening in the world, but I think it would be better if they didn’t show some of those pictures. Maybe I should rely more heavily on my newspaper.”
“Did I hear someone say they want a newspaper?” asked Andrew as he came in the back door. He handed his dad a paper and said, “I just finished my paper route. Seems like everybody I saw talked about all the articles on crime and war. I felt like the bearer of bad news!”
“Well, I’m the bearer of good news—dinner’s ready!” announced Mom. Everyone trooped to the table and together thanked God for the food.
“Mmmmm, this lasagna sure is good news,” commented Andrew.
Dad said, “There is some other good news that all of us should be sharing.”
Andrew and Jessica looked puzzled. “I’ll give you a clue,” said Dad. “It’s found in the Bible.”
“Oh, I know—it’s the Good News of Jesus!” exclaimed Jessica.
“Right,” agreed Dad. “We are to tell others the gospel message. Gospel means ‘good news.’ Perhaps there’s so much bad news in the world today because not enough people know the Good News of the gospel. Do you think we can each tell it to at least one person tomorrow?”
HOW ABOUT YOU?
When was the last time you shared the Good News of Jesus with someone? If you are a Christian, it’s your responsibility to tell others that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, that He was buried, and that He rose again.
TO MEMORIZE:
He told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
Mark 16:15
SHARE THE GOSPEL.
