Do Roosters Lay Eggs?

DO ROOSTERS LAY EGGS?

Read 2 Timothy 3:13-17.

“Why don’t roosters lay eggs?” asked Martin as he watched his aunt and his cousin, Lynne, stuff a Rhode Island Red rooster.

“Oh, but they do,” Lynne said. “Martin, please get the meat thermometer from the cupboard.” When Martin came back, Lynne pulled an egg from inside the bird. Martin was very surprised.

Aunt Marcia hid a smile. “Martin,” she said, “Lynne is playing a joke on you. Go take a look at the book about birds on the coffee table.”

As he paged through the book, Martin read, “The male fowl does not lay eggs.”

He went back to the kitchen. Lynne said with a chuckle, “When you got the thermometer, I put an egg in the rooster to fool you.”

“Lynne was just teasing,” said Aunt Marcia. “But it’s much more serious when Satan tries to deceive us. He’s not doing it just for fun. Do you know ways he tries to fool us?”

“He wants us to think that we’re good kids who have no need of a Savior,” suggested Lynne.

“Yeah,” agreed Martin, “and he wants us to think we don’t need to go to Sunday school.”

Aunt Marcia nodded. “And just like Martin checked a book to learn the truth about roosters, we all must keep checking God’s Book, the Bible, so we will not be fooled.”

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Have you ever felt foolish over being deceived? It’s not so serious when someone just teases you, but don’t let Satan deceive you. He may try to convince you that it’s okay to tell a “little” lie. He may say it’s all right to cheat. He may encourage you to disobey your parents. He’ll keep trying to deceive you, so keep checking the Book!

TO MEMORIZE:

He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.
