Big Little Things

BIG LITTLE THINGS

Read Ephesians 4:24-32.

It had been a terrible day for Lanita! In the first place, Mom had said they were out of bread and Lanita would have to buy her lunch at school. Then Dad had said he couldn’t take her to school, so she had to ride the bus.

Lanita was mad when she went to school, she was madder when she came home, and she was maddest now! She was old enough to know when to go to bed without being sent there like a baby!

Lanita didn’t even feel like praying. She had just pulled the sheet over her head when there was a gentle knock on the door.

Mom came in and handed Lanita her robe. She said, “Put this on, honey. There’s something outside Dad wants you to see.”

Outside, Dad pointed to the moon. “It looks so big and close,” murmured Lanita.

Dad reached into his pocket. “Now hold this dime in front of you like this.” He held it out from his face an arm’s length. Then he handed it to Lanita. “What do you see?” he asked.

“Just a dime,” Lanita replied.

Dad nodded. “You can block out a big, beautiful moon with one little dime,” he said. “And you can shut yourself off from beautiful things like love, happiness, and even God when you make a big fuss about little things.”

Lanita gave her father his dime. Then she gave him a hug. “Thanks, Dad. I needed that!”

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Do you make a big fuss about little things? Anger can ruin your day, your week—even your life. Make up your mind now not to let little things get between you and happiness—or between you and God.

TO MEMORIZE:

This false teaching is like a little yeast spreads quickly through the whole batch of dough!
