Perfect Peace

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.

Isaiah 26:3-4

PEACE ON EARTH. We see those words a lot during this season. But is this peace really possible? Can we truly find peace while sin rules in this world?

Whether or not the earth can truly find peace, we Christians can enjoy peace in our lives. How do we enjoy this calm, peaceful certainty in our hearts, spirits, and emotions?

These verses tell us: by trusting in God and keeping our thoughts focused on him.

Anytime we feel the turmoil of worry, fear, uncertainty, or anger, we can turn to him. As we begin to focus on the Lord—instead of on the temptations and troubles surrounding us—he fills our lives with a peace that is truly unexplainable. He gives us a calm certainty that he is in charge and that we can trust him to guide us no matter what.

Though our world will never truly see peace until Christ reigns, we can have a taste of that peace in our hearts every day. The antidote for the wars or discomfort raging within us is to keep our thoughts on the Lord.
