Invite Them All

Invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you.

Luke 14:13-14

HOW EASY IT was for Bonnie to simply ignore those people who didn’t dress well, who didn’t have the best grooming, who were usually homeless. She often thought badly of them too. Her nose wrinkled in disgust when they walked by, and her mind muttered harsh words about their lack of concern for cleanliness and for simply being presentable.

Nonetheless, God has always had a great heart for the poor, the hurting, the crippled, and all those who cannot fend for themselves in a high-paced, high-priced society. It’s those who help such people, especially those who can never repay the favor in this world, whom God promises to bless.

Do you contribute to Christian organizations that reach out to the poor? Do you give money to your church’s benevolence fund? If you do, God will reward you.
