Grace

God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4-6

HAVE YOU EVER thought about how great God’s grace is? His grace provided our earth, so filled with variety and diversity and amazing wonders. Grace gave us our bodies, minds, and hearts. God’s grace has supplied each of us with unique abilities and talents to help us find a sense of self-worth and fulfillment in this world. His grace meets our needs daily, giving us the food, shelter, and other sustenance we need to survive. As C. H. Spurgeon, a great preacher of the late nineteenth century, wrote, it’s “all of grace.”

But what is the greatest grace of all? This passage tells us: “It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved.”

Many Christians don’t really understand what God did to ensure that they would not only hear the gospel but also respond positively to it. The result is that our real life from now on is hidden with Christ in heaven (see Colossians 3:3) and that Christ is living in us here on earth. We are resurrected spiritually when he gives us the grace to receive him.

God’s grace not only covers our sins but also draws us to God and meets the other needs in our lives. Thanks to his grace, he provides what we need for everything we face in life.
