God Is Eternal
God Is Eternal
The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, “Destroy them!”
Deuteronomy 33:27
NOTICE TWO WORDS in the above verse: eternal and everlasting. Have you ever thought much about the concept that God is eternal? There are several important truths attached to those words.
For one, God never grows old, will never die, will never cease to exist. He is always there. No matter what you face, where you are, or who attacks you, God can outlast all of it. He will be there when those who mistreated you are dead and gone, and he will still be there after you’ve worshiped him for one hundred thousand years.
Another element of God’s eternity is that he cannot decay, break down, or deteriorate. There’s no chance of his developing Alzheimer’s disease. He will never slip into forgetfulness. He can’t possibly get weary or tired of the battle, of you, of working in his beloved people.
A third aspect is that we can never go into a free fall. Just as God is above us, his arms are underneath us when we stumble and sin or are in danger from evil.
God will always be there, vigilant, caring, and forgiving. And his great promise is that he will keep us from slipping through the cracks of this world.
