Surgery Of A Child

DEAR FATHER, the medical staff just rolled my son down the hospital corridor into a sterile surgical room, and I suddenly feel powerless and alone. Many “what if” scenarios pop into my mind. My fears begin to play scenes of what life would be like without my son. Please help me, God! In this moment, I realize again how much he means to me—his kind spirit, positive outlook, and creative ways. He brings so much joy to my life, and I can’t imagine a day without him.

Please give the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and the nursing staff alertness, precision, and full attention to their work. May you guide their hands, make them observant, and focus their considerable knowledge and experience through the course of this surgery. Help them to make good decisions. Please be by their side—helping them, and healing my son. For this I would be very grateful, and I ask it in Jesus’ name, amen.
