Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday

PRAISE YOU, KING JESUS! In my mind’s eye, I can picture you gently mounting the donkey colt you rode into Jerusalem on the first Palm Sunday. The donkey carried you up the winding roadway, with crowds of cheering supporters laying down their coats and strewing palm branches along the way. There was such excitement, enthusiasm, and adoration. But you knew what lay ahead, Jesus. Later, you wept over the people of Jerusalem who didn’t understand the way to peace. You knew how fickle this crowd of people really was. Far into the future you could see all of us—including me—joyfully worshiping you one day, and then denying you a few days later.

Lord Jesus, give me the steadiness to worship you not just in the midst of a supportive crowd, but day in and day out. Not just in public worship, but in the quietness of my home, and when I am alone in my thoughts. May I worship you not just in a parade of honor, but in all of life’s ordinary moments—in good times and bad times, in joy and in sorrow. For you are the Lord of all things. You are my King and my God. Hosanna!
