Parents And Grandparents

MERCIFUL AND FAITHFUL FATHER, I’m grateful you’ve blessed me with children and grandchildren. My life is continually enriched because of them. Yet sometimes, I am deeply concerned for them, shedding tears over difficult situations I wish I could change or control . . . but I can’t. I’m thankful I can pray, and I’m thankful that you listen. Where else would I go, Lord?

At times, anxiety for my children and grandchildren gets tangled up with disappointments over my own flawed parenting or grandparenting skills. I made mistakes, Lord, as every parent except you does. Help me not to be mired in painful regrets. Even you—the only perfect parent in the world—lamented that the children you raised and cared for had rebelled. It’s comforting for me to realize that you completely understand my situation. More than that, you have power to help!

That is why I am praying, God. Please grant me discernment and wisdom. Sometimes it’s challenging to know the difference between helping and hurting. But I know that your Spirit is willing to guide me. I have so much yet to learn. I’m depending on your Spirit to guide me.
