Healing Power

Healing Power

LORD JESUS, when you healed a blind man from Bethsaida, you didn’t do it all at once. You healed him in stages. At first, this puzzled me. You spit on the man’s eyes, which seems strangely disrespectful. Then you asked the man if he could see. Of course you already knew his answer, which was something like “Not exactly.” The man’s vision was blurry; to him, people looked like trees walking around. That’s not a full healing, Jesus. But then you touched him, and the miracle was complete.

I’m reminded of another incident of spitting detailed in your Word, but this time you were being spit upon in contempt. Yet this was part of the way in which you brought ultimate healing to all of us. By your wounds, we are healed.

Thank you for your healing power, Lord. We would be hopeless without it. Help us to trust you as we wait for your unique ways of renewing, rebuilding, and renovating our hearts. You alone can make us whole.

Whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.
