Psalm 40:8

I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.

What does it mean for God’s instructions to be written on our hearts? When we read God’s Word quickly, we just as quickly tend to forget it. But if it is written on our hearts, that means we can never forget it. This happens only as we study, understand, memorize, and practice what we read. When we know God’s Word and allow it to shape the way we live, the result is deep joy and a life with true meaning and purpose. Do you take delight in reading the Bible? Think about how you can be more serious about meditating on God’s Word so that it becomes written on your heart.
