Amos 5:24
Amos 5:24
I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.
Prior to this verse, God had told his people he despised the hypocrisy of their religious gatherings, offerings, and songs. They were doing and saying all the “right” things but failing to live by them; in other words, failing to live justly and righteously. How often do we, too, worship God in church and then go about our days making decisions that are contrary to what God calls us to in his Word? Perhaps you’re aware of hypocrisy in your own life. Or maybe you really do worship sincerely in church but struggle to make your actions reflect it during the week. Either way, each of us must learn to recognize the incongruencies between our faith and our actions, confess them to God, and rely on his help to close the gaps.
