Numbers 6:24-26

Numbers 6:24-26

May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.

Called the “Aaronic Blessing,” this passage, which God commanded the high priest, Aaron, and his sons to speak over the people of Israel, is one of the most famous blessings in the Bible. In Scripture, blessing someone is a profoundly personal and powerful act. When we bless others, we’re asking God to bring about good things in their lives. Throughout the Bible we often see people speaking blessings over others. This beautiful practice is one that is often forgotten in our churches and homes today. Whom might God be asking you to bless? Someone you mentor? Your child? Maybe even an enemy? Ask him to make you aware of the next opportunity to speak forth encouraging, life-giving words.
