Mark 9:35
Mark 9:35
He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”
Jesus’ words remind us that following him sometimes requires great sacrifice. He calls every believer to forfeit their own status and wants in order to care for and serve others. This calling isn’t easy and doesn’t always come naturally, especially when our sacrifices go unnoticed. But God is watching each time we love and serve those around us. Every time we sacrifice for another, our hearts reflect more of God’s character. When you find yourself feeling resentful, bitter, or angry while serving others, ask the Holy Spirit to shape you into someone who is more loving, selfless, and generous.
