Mark 10:31

Many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.

Jesus spoke these words to his disciples after encountering a rich young man who wouldn’t give up his possessions to follow Jesus. Jesus warned them how difficult it can be for the wealthy and those esteemed in the world’s eyes to enter the Kingdom of God. Society’s view of greatness is drastically different from God’s. Throughout Jesus’ life, we see him valuing the lowly, lonely, humble, poor, crippled, sick, and outcast. Whom do you view as “great”? Whom would God view as “great”? How might this verse shift your perspective and encourage you to value others differently?
