Somehow, Someday - One Minute Prayers for Women with Cancer
Somehow, Someday
“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.” (Joel 2:25, NIV)
“Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.” (Isaiah 30:18, ESV)
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” (1 Peter 5:10, ESV)
Battling cancer is hard enough, but the relentless skirmishes and setbacks that go with it are enough to make the strongest woman want to give up. Frightening test results, mounting medical bills, and lengthy complications darken our days like clouds of swarming locusts, consuming our energy, finances, health, and hope. In their midst you may feel unseen and forgotten. But you’re not. God not only sees us cowering from the onslaught but promises to restore everything that’s been devoured. He knows the intimate details of your loss. You can trust he’ll make up for it. Somehow. Some day.
Do you really see what cancer has stolen from me, Lord? Here in the darkness of one setback after another, it doesn’t always feel like it. So today I’m going to choose to believe you. I’m going to choose to live in the confidence of your promise. Even if I can’t imagine how you’ll repay me—and no matter whether it’s this side of heaven or not—may I stand taller, stronger, and more hope-filled in the face of today’s news. Lord, fuel me with faith.
