His Way, His Time - One Minute Prayers for Women with Cancer

His Way, His Time

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14, ESV)

“Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled.” (Psalm 6:2, ESV)

“This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.” (Psalm 119:50, ESV)

The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up (James 5:15). If this verse has ever been used to suggest God hasn’t healed you because you don’t have enough faith, I’m so sorry. In Scripture, faith and healing are always connected, but there’s no vending machine where we can put faith in, push the prayer button, and out comes healing. There’s mystery involved—and so much we don’t know. One thing we do know, however, is we only need a mustard seed’s worth of faith. True, genuine faith, even a speck as tiny as the seed of a mustard plant, acknowledges that Jesus will heal in his way and in his time. Let’s place our trust and faith—no matter how miniscule, no matter how frail—in Jesus today.

Lord, my faith is small and weak, but what I have is true and genuine. Help me trust your will and your ways, and as I do, would you heal my cancer? Lord, shrink the tumor inside me, remove any cancer cells seeking new places to grow in my body, and restore me to full health. Set me on my feet again. Raise me up, Lord.
