Magnificent Prayer #90
And when he had taken it [the scroll], the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song:
“You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals,
because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.”

On the ground of our own goodness we cannot expect to have our prayers answered. But Jesus is worthy, and for His sake we may have our prayers answered. There is nothing too choice, too costly, or too great for God to give Him. He is worthy. He is the spotless, holy Child, who under all circumstances acted according to the mind of God. And if we trust in Him, if we hide in Him, if we put Him forward and ourselves in the background, depend on Him and plead His name, we may expect to have our prayers answered.

Pray About It: Never approach God on the grounds of your own righteousness or need. Our access to God is dependent totally on the work of Christ. In Him, and in no other, we have access. There are many religions that practice prayer, but their prayers are largely dependent on their good works or sacrifices for God. As such their prayers are void.
There is no other name by which man may be saved than that of Christ, and there is no other ground upon which we may offer our prayer than that of Christ.
Today, reflect on the worthiness of Christ, both for God’s approval and for our adoration.
In the name of my Master, I ask you, Have you forsaken all your own righteousness? You have heard that salvation is not of works. Are you completely divorced from your own righteousness and have laid hold on Christ’s righteousness? Then…look up to heaven, and say, Father, I forsake all for Christ.
