Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
1 Peter 5:8–9
The concern of the devil is to keep the saints from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, he mocks at our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.

Pray About It: Of all the tools God has given the church, prayer is the most effective. And to Satan it’s the most dangerous weapon he faces. Why then should it surprise us that we are so often distracted from wielding this mighty force? Satan does indeed tremble at our prayers. They signal his defeat in our lives.
Don’t be distracted today from prayer, nor from the faith that prevails in prayer. Instead, as you pray, proclaim again (and firmly) Satan’s defeat.
Prayer is repeating the victor’s name (Jesus) into the ears of Satan and insisting on his retreat.
