Magnificent Prayer #230

Magnificent Prayer #230

He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

Psalm 106:15 KJV

When we learn to pray in the Holy Spirit, we find there are some things for which we cannot pray, we sense a need for restraint. Never push and say, “I know it is God’s will and I am going to stick to it.” Beware.

Remember the children of Israel: “He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.” Let the Spirit of God teach you what He is driving at and learn not to grieve Him. If we are abiding in Jesus Christ we shall ask what He wants us to ask, whether we are conscious of doing so or not.

OSWALD CHAMBERS

Pray About It: We pray amiss because we have selfishly assumed that what we want must be the will of God. We prod on in our praying, trying to convince God of our case. But if God isn’t in it, better let it go. Or would you rather He grant the request and send leanness into your soul? Never push. Be willing to back down from a prayer when you sense His restraint.

Quiet waiting before God would save from many a mistake and from many a sorrow.
