Magnificent Prayer #111

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;

they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

Revelation 12:11

I am God’s wheat. May I be ground by the teeth of the wild beasts until I become the fine wheat bread that is Christ’s. My passions are crucified, there is no heat in my flesh. A stream flows murmuring inside me; deep down in me it says: Come to the Father.

IGNATIUS OF ANTIOCH

Pray About It: These are the words of prayer that Ignatius spoke just before his martyrdom in A.D. 107. In the past century there have been more Christian martyrs than in all previous centuries combined. The extreme privilege of dying for faith in Christ is a blessing, not a curse. In America, many young Christians are ridiculed for their faith. Some are killed. At Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, several Christians died after admitting to their faith in Christ.

Such tragedies should serve as wake-up calls to God’s people, particularly those who are pray-ers.

We must invest in the next generation of believers by holding them up in prayer and believing God to do great things through them.

Today, pray for our youth. They have temptations that many older Americans never faced. Pray for boldness for our young Christians. Pray with great compassion for our youth who have never heard of Christ. The waning influence of Christianity in our culture has left many empty young men and women spiritually bankrupt. They need Christ desperately.

Also today, pray for the persecuted church around the world. They covet your support.

Pray for the rising generation, who are to come after us. Thing of the young men and young women and children of this age, and pray for all the agencies at work among them; that in associations and societies and unions, in homes and schools, Christ may be honored, and the Holy Spirit get possession of them. Pray for the young of your own neighborhood.
