Pray About It: The enemy of our prayers may actually be the lighthearted attitude we sometimes take. How often have we said in passing, “I’ll pray for you.” Or maybe we’ve asked others to pray for our need. But do we follow through? Do we really pray much more than a simple bullet prayer to heaven? When we promise to pray for someone, we should consider this as paramount as if we had exchanged a large sum of money. God hates it when prayer, the most powerful weapon He’s given us, and the means by which we are to fellowship with Him, is taken lightly by His people.
Prayer is serious. To casually bandy about promises to pray for someone without earnest follow-through undermines our faith.
Take prayer seriously. Today, who have you promised to pray for?
Do it.
Give yourself wholly to God for people, and amid all your work, your heart will be drawn out to people in love, and drawn up to God in dependence and expectation. To a heart thus led by the Holy Spirit, it is possible to pray always and not to faint.
