Word To The Wise

Word to the Wise

Jesus was (and is) the Word—the message that brought life to those who were thirsty, love to those who felt unlovable, truth to those who longed for direction, comfort to those who were weary, forgiveness to those who were guilty.

Words have power to destroy or to heal. Even Peter, with all of his blunderings, got this right: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life” (John 6:68, NASB).

Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45, ESV).

Remember, “the Word,” Jesus, lives inside you. That means you have the power within to cultivate that which will bring the same life and truth that He brought. That is why you should spend more time pondering His words, His heart, His messages— so you can be changed by them.

Make it a habit to begin each day saying, “Today, I am going to be intentional about my words. I will write or speak words of life intentionally to each of my children today—face to face or on messages they will receive. I hope to hearten them, lift them, encourage them. I will invest words that my husband needs to hear. I will seek this week to give out those words to people He brings to my mind, that they might feel the wind of the Holy Spirit blowing through their lives.”

May your words cause all who are around you to sense the fragrance of God lingering about them.

His Promises

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone,

but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Matthew 4:4

It is the same with my word.

I send it out, and it always produces fruit.

It will accomplish all I want it to,

and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Isaiah 55:11

Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”

Luke 11:28
