You Are Not Alone
You Are Not Alone
Committed motherhood is a holy calling of God. You are a steward of the children He has given you, and He trusts you to love, instruct, train, and provide for them in such a way that they may go into their adult lives emotionally healthy, loving God and serving His Kingdom purposes.
However, like most mothers, there are likely times when the work of giving, serving, cleaning, cooking, and correcting causes frustration to build up inside until it suddenly takes over and spills anger on everyone in close range.
When that happens, you do not need a lecture from someone telling you you’ve been immature, out of control, unreasonable, or unloving. You already know that. What you long for instead is gentleness and patience—someone to tenderly place their arms around your shoulders, look into your eyes with compassion, understand how you feel, and say, “Grace to you, sweet one; you are forgiven. All will be well.”
As one mom to another, let me assure you, you are not the only mother to lose her patience. I am guilty of raging in the tempests of my own life too. Apologize, ask forgiveness, and move on in love. So the next time life overwhelms you and you lose it with your children, remember, you’re not alone, and it’s not irreparable. Apologize honestly. Ask forgiveness. Begin again. God has already forgiven you and provided for a new tomorrow.
His Promises
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
