Overflowing With Joy - Joy in Jesus
Overflowing with Joy
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” (John 15:11, NIV)
Have you ever been around someone whose joy is so contagious that just being near them makes you feel lighter? Their laughter and warmth seem to fill the room, lifting everyone’s spirits. That’s what happens when we delight in Jesus—His joy fills us so completely that it spills over into the lives of others.
But this joy doesn’t come from trying harder to be happy or cheerful. Jesus says in John 15:11 that His joy in us makes our joy complete. It starts when we abide in Him—spending time with Him, listening to His voice, and trusting His love. The more connected we are to Jesus, the more His joy flows through us, like a spring of water bubbling up and bringing refreshment to everything around it.
What’s even more beautiful is that this joy isn’t based on our circumstances. It’s rooted in His presence and it becomes a powerful testimony. When we carry His joy into our relationships, it can show up in simple but profound ways: a kind word, an act of generosity, or just the peaceful presence we bring to an anxious room. His Spirit prompts us to love others in ways that reflect His goodness. And as we respond, our delight in Him overflows and blesses those around us.
Imagine what could happen if we allowed Jesus’ joy to saturate every moment of our lives. What conversations might change? What burdens might be lifted? Today, let’s invite Him to fill us so fully that our joy in Him becomes a source of light and hope for others.
Reflection:
Ask Jesus to show you one way you can share His joy with someone today. Maybe it’s sending an encouraging text to a friend, serving a neighbor in need, or simply listening with full attention when a family member tells you about their day. Take a step and watch His joy overflow.
Closing Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for filling my heart with Your joy. Teach me to abide in You so that Your presence overflows into my relationships and those around me. Let everything I do today point others to Your eternal love. Amen.
