You Have Been Chosen For Great Things

You Have Been Chosen For Great Things

Lord, I feel so inadequate. How can you possibly use me to bring you glory?

I have not given you a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. Who dares accuse you, whom I have chosen for my own? No one—for I myself have given you right standing with me. Christ Jesus died for you and was raised to life for you, and he is sitting at my right hand, pleading for you. Overwhelming victory is yours through Christ, who loves you.

2 Timothy 1:7; Romans 8:33-34, 37

Other people seem so confident. Am I the only one who struggles with feelings of inadequacy?

Moses pleaded with me, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Then I asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.

Exodus 4:10-13; 2 Corinthians 12:9

What can I pray to battle against my feelings of inadequacy?

Lord, help me to remember that I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:13

Moses demonstrates that overwhelming victory is possible when the God of the universe loves you and is for you! Moses also dealt with feelings of inadequacy, but God loves to use imperfect people to carry out his perfect plans. Why? Because his power shines brightest when he uses us despite our weaknesses. To battle feelings of inadequacy today, ask yourself, “Who made my _____ (body, personality, whatever you’re struggling with)?” Hear God’s words to Moses: “Now go! I will be with you and instruct you!”
