God Never Changes

God Never Changes

Lord, can I really count on you to never change?

I am the LORD, and I do not change. My words will never disappear. I am not a man, so I do not lie. I am not human, so I do not change my mind. Have I ever spoken and failed to act? Have I ever promised and not carried it through? I can be trusted to keep my promise.

Malachi 3:6; Mark 13:31; Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 10:23

How should your constancy reassure my faith?

I am the faithful God who keeps my covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes my unfailing love on those who love me and obey my commands. You have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. I am your God forever and ever, and I will guide you until you die.

Deuteronomy 7:9; 1 Peter 1:4; Psalm 48:14

What can I pray when change brings doubt?

I praise you, LORD, who have given rest to your people. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises you gave. The grass withers and the flowers fade, but your word stands forever.

1 Kings 8:56; Isaiah 40:8

Change is inevitable. Life keeps moving, and each season brings something new: a job change, a move, a promotion, a new baby, an empty nest, or an illness. But God has given his oath that he will never change. The strength of his unfailing love is as steady and sure today as it has always been. There is no transition you can pass through where God’s love will cease to flow. Pick some flowers today or purchase them at the store. Enjoy their beauty, but as they fade and wither, remind yourself that God’s promises will never fade but will endure forever.
