What Brings God Joy

What Brings God Joy

Lord, what brings you joy?

My delight is in those who fear me, those who put their hope in my unfailing love. Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things.

Psalm 147:11; Jeremiah 9:23-24

How can I live this way?

The highest heavens and the earth and everything in it all belong to me. Yet I chose you. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. I require only that you fear me, and live in a way that pleases me, and love me and serve me with all your heart and soul. I have told you what is good, and this is what I require of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with me.

Deuteronomy 10:14-15; Isaiah 57:15; Deuteronomy 10:12; Micah 6:8

What can I pray to focus on bringing you joy?

May I show love to you, LORD, by walking in your ways and holding tightly to you.

Deuteronomy 11:22

God delights in you because you are his child. What thrills his heart most is when his children love him back. Today, try to focus on living in a way that pleases the Lord. Some examples might be choosing to praise him in the midst of navigating pain or difficulty, showing mercy, or expressing gratitude for his unfailing love for you.
