The Blessings Of Belonging To God

Lord, what are the privileges of belonging to you?

I have blessed you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because you are united with Christ. Now you are no longer a slave but my own child. And since you are my child, I have made you my heir. There is no condemnation for you who belong to Christ Jesus. For you are a holy people, who belong to me. I have chosen you to be my own special treasure.

Lord Jesus, how do these privileges influence the way I live?

When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.

What can I pray to thank you for accepting me?

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from you, God, who brought me back to yourself through Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18

God’s acceptance frees you to offer others the same loving acceptance. Today, ask yourself who in your life needs an invitation to belong. Invite someone over for dinner so he or she can feel a sense of belonging. As you set an extra place at the table, thank God for how he’s made space for you at his table.
