God Sees Your Tears
God Sees Your Tears
Lord, how can I find comfort when I cry alone?
I am your merciful Father and the source of all comfort. I am close to the brokenhearted; I rescue those whose spirits are crushed. Pour out your heart to me. Pray about everything. Tell me what you need, and thank me for all I have done. Then you will experience my peace, which exceeds anything you can understand. My peace will guard your heart and mind.
2 Corinthians 1:3; Psalm 34:18; Psalm 62:8; Philippians 4:6-7
How can I know you care about the things I cry over?
I am like a father to my children, tender and compassionate to those who fear me. For I know how weak you are. And the Holy Spirit helps you in your weakness. For example, you don’t know what I want you to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for you with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Psalm 103:13-14; Romans 8:26
In the midst of my tears, what can I pray to remind myself that you are with me?
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. You are the God who sees me.
Psalm 56:8; Genesis 16:13
Crying all by yourself is one of the most humbling and lonely experiences in life. However, even when you feel most alone, God is with you, holding you in that moment. His Word says he cares so much about your tears that he catches each one. Write out the prayer above and put it in a place where you often cry alone. The next time you need to be reminded of this truth, read this prayer, and remember that you are never alone.
