Even If Others Betray You, God Remains Faithful

Lord, why does betrayal hurt so much?

Just because others are unfaithful, does that mean you will be unfaithful, Lord? If I am unfaithful, you remain faithful, for you cannot deny who you are.

Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery. But he trusted God to redeem his hurt and pain and turn it into something good. Joseph chose to forgive. When you forgive someone, writes Lewis Smedes, “you set a prisoner free, but you discover that the real prisoner was [you].” Have you ever felt a deep sense of betrayal? Ask God to help you forgive your betrayer so you can be free from bitterness and resentment. Thank God that he is always faithful.
