Don’t Let Busyness Disconnect You From God

Don’t Let Busyness Disconnect You From God

Lord, how can I cultivate a deeper relationship with you when life is so busy?

Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer. Listen carefully to what I am saying, for I speak peace to my faithful people. Do not return to your foolish ways. Wait quietly before me, for your hope is in me. Come close to me, and I will come close to you.

Luke 5:16; Psalm 85:8; Psalm 62:5; James 4:8

What happens when I make space for you?

I give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of me. By my divine power, I have given you everything you need for living a godly life. You have received all of this by coming to know me, the one who called you to myself by means of my marvelous glory and excellence.

2 Peter 1:2-3

What can I pray when I need to withdraw to connect with you?

I wait quietly before you, God, for my victory comes from you. My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”

Psalm 62:1; Psalm 27:8

Despite the busyness of his ministry, Jesus often withdrew to connect with his Father. When you make space for God, he increases your capacity for grace and peace. You can receive so much from him, but only when you go to him to be filled. Look at your schedule for this week. Is there any time to connect with God? If not, what can you give up to make space for him? Try to find a regular time in your schedule to listen to and connect with God.
