When You Search For Peace In The Middle Of Chaos

When You Search For Peace In The Middle Of Chaos

Lord, how can I find peace in my spirit when the world and my life seem to be in constant chaos?

I am the LORD your God. I created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. I made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos. I am the LORD, and there is no other. I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

Isaiah 45:18; John 16:33

How can you comfort me when chaos makes me afraid?

Do not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. No, do not be afraid, for I am with you, and I am a great and awesome God. I will comfort you as a mother comforts her child.

Psalm 46:2; Psalm 91:5-6; Deuteronomy 7:21; Isaiah 66:13

What can I pray to help me feel at peace?

You will keep me in perfect peace if I trust in you, if my thoughts are fixed on you! In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.

Isaiah 26:3; Psalm 4:8

Chaos can quickly replace our sense of peace with panic. We need to anchor our peace—not in present circumstances but in God, who is stable, steady, and sovereign over all things. Pause now. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Relax your body and remind yourself that God is with you, that he is in control, and that he is a good and awesome God. As you take ten deep breaths, meditate on the image of God holding you safe.
