When Life Feels Unfair
Lord, do you really treat others fairly?
I am a shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right. I am an honest judge. I am angry with the wicked every day. Yet you say, “The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!” Listen to me. Am I the one not doing what’s right, or is it you? My government and its peace will never end. I will rule with fairness and justice for all eternity.

How can I trust you when your ways don’t seem fair?
My way is perfect. All my promises prove true. I am a shield for all who look to me for protection. I love justice, and I will never abandon the godly. I will keep them safe forever. I cause everything to work together for the good of those who love me and are called according to my purpose for them.

What can I pray to remind myself of your fairness?
In due season you will judge everyone, both good and bad, for all their deeds. I will thank you because you are just; I will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

A sense of fairness or unfairness means we are measuring our lives by some standard and judging whether it is in our favor. God is the only fair judge, and when we measure our life by his standard, we all fall short. We are all in desperate need of grace and a Savior. And his grace is most unfair because it is free and undeserved. What standard are you using to measure your life? What is something in your life that feels unfair?
