As You Grow Older, Cling To This
As You Grow Older, Cling To This
Lord, can you sympathize with the difficulty that comes from growing older?
I know how weak you are; I remember you are only dust. Your days on earth are like grass; like a wildflower, you bloom and die. While you live in this earthly body, you groan and sigh. You grow weary in your present body, and you long to put on your heavenly body like new clothing.
Psalm 103:14-15; 2 Corinthians 5:4; 2 Corinthians 5:2
What hope can I cling to as I struggle with aging?
My love remains forever with those who fear me. The godly will flourish. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. Though your body is dying, your spirit is being renewed every day. I will take your weak mortal body and change it into a glorious body like my own.
Psalm 103:17; Proverbs 14:11; Psalm 92:14; 2 Corinthians 4:16; Philippians 3:21
What can I pray when I need perspective on aging?
Father, you have been my guide since my youth. And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing. Teach me to realize the brevity of life, so that I may grow in wisdom. Satisfy me each morning with your unfailing love, so I may sing for joy to the end of my life.
Jeremiah 3:4; Psalm 71:9; Psalm 90:12, 14
