Be Strong And Courageous

Be Strong And Courageous

Lord, where can I find courage to face my fears?

For who is God except me? Who besides me is a solid rock? I have not given you a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic. I will personally go ahead of you. I will neither fail you nor abandon you.

Psalm 18:31; 2 Timothy 1:7; Deuteronomy 31:6

How can I be sure you will help me?

What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without my knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to me than a whole flock of sparrows.

Matthew 10:29-31

What can I pray when I need courage?

Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Help me, O LORD. I entrust my spirit into your hand. Rescue me, LORD, for you are a faithful God. I will tell everyone about your power. Your strength is mighty in the heavens. You are awesome in your sanctuary. You give power and strength to your people. Praise be to you, God!

Psalm 30:10; Psalm 31:5; Psalm 68:34-35

Author Mark Twain once wrote, “Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear—not absence of fear.”a There are times when you have no choice but to step into a situation that terrifies you. God can often use these moments to solidify your confidence in his presence and help. Even if you aren’t feeling brave, you can face your fears with the assurance from God’s Word that he is greater than any enemy or problem you are facing. Write out Hebrews 13:6: “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” Memorize it to give you the courage to face your fears.
