Open Yourself Up To A Deeper Relationship
Lord, why is vulnerability so important?
As you share in others’ sufferings, you will also share in the comfort I give you. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. Come boldly to my throne of grace. There you will receive my mercy, and you will find grace to help you when you need it most.

What are the rewards of opening myself up to others?
Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. All of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. That is what I have called you to do, and I will grant you my blessing.

What can I pray to encourage myself when vulnerability seems hard?
O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. You know where I am going. And when you test me, I will come out as pure as gold.

Vulnerability is sharing a personal struggle or confessing a sinful habit you cannot defeat on your own. It’s hard to show the weakest parts of yourself to others. God’s design is for believers to help and strengthen each other. Do you have relationships like this? If not, ask yourself if it’s because you’ve been holding back. Who is someone you want a deeper relationship with? What is something you can share to allow this person to see a little more of you?
