Money Doesn’t Buy Happiness

Money Doesn’t Buy Happiness

Lord, what principles can guide me in being wise with my finances?

Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time. Honor me with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then I will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.

Ecclesiastes 5:10; Proverbs 13:11; Proverbs 3:9-10

How can I fight against always wanting just a little more?

True godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, you brought nothing with you when you came into the world, and you can’t take anything with you when you leave it. So if you have enough food and clothing, be content.

1 Timothy 6:6-8

What can I pray to get my heart in the right place when making financial decisions?

Father, help me not to love money, and to be satisfied with what I have. For you have said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

Hebrews 13:5

Walk through your home and take an inventory of your possessions. Thank and praise God for every good thing. Ask him to fill you with contentment for what you have been given. How do you feel after this activity? Do you find yourself more content? Are you more thankful?
