How To Manage The Overwhelming

How To Manage The Overwhelming

Lord, how can I cope when life is overwhelming?

Trust in me at all times. Pour out your heart to me, for I am your refuge. Give your burdens to me, and I will take care of you. Never give up, for your present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for you a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! You who have fled to me for refuge can have great confidence as you hold to the hope that lies before you. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for your soul.

Psalm 62:8; Psalm 55:22; 2 Corinthians 4:16-17; Hebrews 6:18-19

What is my greatest hope?

My home will be among my people! I myself will be with them. I will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things will be gone forever.

Revelation 21:3-4

What can I pray when I don’t know how to cope?

Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles. I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears. But I called on your name, LORD, from deep within the pit. You heard me when I cried, “Listen to my pleading! Hear my cry for help!” Yes, you came when I called; you told me, “Do not fear.”

Psalm 55:2; Psalm 6:6; Lamentations 3:55-57

There are many effective ways to cope with pain, but one way you must not neglect is clinging to the Lord, who provides your ultimate hope and healing. Take a moment to pour out your heart to God. Then sit in silence for a minute and breathe in deeply, remembering that he is with you, caring for you in your pain.
