God Is Love

God Is Love

Lord, how is your love different from human love?

I am love, and all who live in love live in me, and I live in them. My faithful love endures forever. My faithful love never ends! My mercies never cease. I always fulfill my covenant and keep my promises of unfailing love to those who love me and obey my commands.

1 John 4:16; Psalm 136:1; Lamentations 3:22; Daniel 9:4

How powerful is your love?

Can anything ever separate you from my love? Does it mean I no longer love you if you have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? Nothing can ever separate you from my love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither your fears for today nor your worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate you from my love.

Romans 8:35, 38

What can I pray to experience the fullness of your love?

May I have the power to understand, as all your people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep your love is. May I experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then I will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from you.

Ephesians 3:18-19

In your human relationships, you may love deeply but never perfectly. Your love may last a lifetime, but it will never have the unshakable faithfulness and eternal power of God’s love for you. Every heartache, betrayal, or hurt is meant to point you to your need for God’s faithful, perfect, eternal love. Close your eyes and imagine God looking at you with total approval and love. What does this feel like? Thank him right now that nothing can separate you from his love.
