God Doesn’t Create Mistakes
Lord, sometimes I don’t like who I am. Why did you create me this way?
Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, “Stop, you’re doing it wrong!” I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart. Not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without my knowing it. And you are more valuable to me than a whole flock of sparrows.

How can I value myself the way you do?
You are my masterpiece. I have created you anew in Christ Jesus, so you can do the good things I planned for you long ago. Even before I made the world, I loved you and chose you in Christ to be holy and without fault in my eyes. I decided in advance to adopt you into my own family by bringing you to myself through Jesus Christ. This is what I wanted to do, and it gave me great pleasure.

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!

Our self-esteem flourishes when we can see ourselves the way God sees us. Instead of focusing on your flaws, reflect on what your creator says about your worth. Write down a few lies or negative thoughts Satan tempts you to believe about yourself. Now reflect on the words God uses to describe you: loved, valuable, precious, a masterpiece, and my child. How might you see yourself if you let go of the lies and instead chose to live out how God sees you?
