Don’t Remain Stagnant
Lord, what does your Word say about apathy?
You are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, I will spit you out of my mouth! To whom can I give warning? Who will listen when I speak? Don’t drift away. Anyone who isn’t helping me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.

What are some practical ways I can fight against apathy?
You say, “It’s too hard to serve the LORD,” and you turn up your nose at my commands. My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. If you do this, your life will be satisfying. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Keep on loving others as long as life lasts. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent.

What can I pray when I want a renewed passion for you, Lord?

Today, choose to step toward God, even when you don’t feel like it. He can use your weakest yes to bring revival to your heart. Write down some small and achievable goals for this week, this month, and this year that will help your heart reconnect with the Lord. Prayerfully consider goals that focus on finding ways to awaken your heart to the love and presence of God, such as reading God’s Word and loving and serving others.
