Every Decision Is An Opportunity To Gain Wisdom
Lord, how can I avoid foolish choices?
Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others. Those who trust their own insight are foolish, but anyone who walks in wisdom is safe. The prudent understand where they are going, but fools deceive themselves. A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.

How do the consequences of foolishness compare with the benefits of seeking divine wisdom?
They hated knowledge and chose not to fear me. They rejected my advice and paid no attention when I corrected them. Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way, choking on their own schemes. For simpletons turn away from me—to death. Fools are destroyed by their own complacency. But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.

What can I pray to pursue your wise advice?
Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations. I cling to your laws. LORD, don’t let me be put to shame! I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding.

Think about the decisions you need to make this week. These are all opportunities to seek God’s wisdom. With each decision, ask yourself the following questions: Who can give me wise advice? What might happen to keep me from making or not making a particular choice? Is there truth from God’s Word that can guide me? Have I prayed about it?
