Lord, why is gentleness important to you?
Since I chose you to be among the holy people I love, you must clothe yourself with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Clothe yourself with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to me. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart.

How should I display gentleness as a follower of Jesus?
Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare. Be kind to others, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as I through Christ have forgiven you.

What can I pray when gentleness toward others feels hard?
Lord, make my love for others grow and overflow, just as your love for me overflows. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. Make my heart strong, blameless, and holy as I stand before you.

Gentleness is a characteristic of the Holy Spirit and a by-product of living a godly life. In God’s eyes, gentle people have spiritual power because they make an impact through their kindness rather than through boasting or manipulation. The word gentle can be defined as “mild in temperament or behavior; kind or tender.” Where in your life would you like to grow in one of these areas of gentleness?
