Growing In Faith
Growing In Faith
Lord, how can my faith grow?
Faith shows the reality of what you hope for; it is the evidence of things you cannot see. By faith you understand that the entire universe was formed at my command, that what you now see did not come from anything that can be seen. Faith comes from hearing; that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. And I, who began the good work within you, will certainly continue my work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
Hebrews 11:1, 3; Romans 10:17; Philippians 1:6
Am I the only one who struggles with doubt, Jesus?
I said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed. Then I told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”
John 20:27-29
How can I pray for a stronger faith?
Fill me completely with joy and peace because I trust in you. Then I will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13
Faith deepens our trust in God, even when we can’t see him working. One of the ways our faith grows is when we hear stories of how God has worked and is working in the lives of others. This evening, read the entire chapter of Hebrews 11 for examples of people with great faith. Reflect on these questions: What encourages you to trust in God? What doubts or fears are keeping you from deeper trust in Jesus?
